The Viperfish is a fear-invoking resident of a deep-sea zone called the mesopelagic. Ranging from 660 - 3300 feet, this fish lives in complete blackness. The viperfish lures prey toward its gaping mouth using a small light at the top of its dorsal fin. It uses its massive jaws full of needle sharp teeth to trap prey and swallow them whole.
